About Us
The Food Town name is a big part of the culture in the Toledo area. Wally Iott the founder of Food Town promoted everyday low prices, customer satisfaction and a commitment to the Greater Toledo community which added to the home town feeling so many shoppers enjoyed.
In 2000 after over fifty years of ownership Wally Iott sold the company to Spartan Stores based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Through a restructuring initiative in 2003 several Food Town locations became available for purchase and Sam Jabro acquired locations in Lambertville and Temperance, Michigan from Spartan Stores Inc. Food Town's newest location opened in the spring of 2009 on Central Avenue in West Toledo.
Food Town returned to the approach that made Wally Iott so successful by extending the offering to customers with an expanded private label, specialty and national brand products at everyday low prices. Additionally, Food Town has improved the fresh market approach to the it's meat, deli, bakery and produce departments.
Food Town is a privately held, independent supermarket chain based in Lambertville, Michigan. We are a Spartan wholesale affiliate.
